Kusturica podržava ratne zločince

Filmska rediteljka Jasmila Žbanić i pozorišni reditelj Haris Pašović zatražili su od direktora Kanskog festivala da se i na Emira Kusturicu primenjuju isti oni standardi koji važe za Larsa Von Triera

Pozdravljamo odluku da se festival distancira od primedbi danskog filmskog režisera Larsa Von Triera, čoveka je koji je otvoreni simpatizer fašizma i sebe zove nacistom. U isto vreme, zbunjeni smo duplim standardima festivala u vezi sa srpskim režiserom Emirom Kusturicom, dugogodišnjim pristalicom ratnih zločinaca iz balkanskih ratova devedesetih godina.

Tokom opsade Sarajeva 1992-95. mnogi evropski intelektualci podigli su glas protiv njegovog uništenja, dok je Emir Kusturica koji je rođen u Sarajevu snimao filmove koje je sponzorisao tadašnji predsednik Srbije Slobodan Milošević, organizator balkanskih zločina.

Čak i danas Emir Kusturica podržava Radovana Karadžića, naziva ga "herojem" i izvodi pesme koje "poetski" slave njegov heroizam, bez obzira što mu Međunarodni sud za ratne zločine u Hagu sudi za genocid u Srebrenici i masovna ubistva nesrba u zarobljeničkim kampovima širom Bosne.

Uz sve poštovanje prema pravu umetnika da budu ludi, izgubljeni ili bizarni – tražimo od g. Thierry Fremonta i g.  Gilles Jacoba da primene iste standardi na sve one koji podržavaju ratne zločince, uključujući Emira Kusturicu.

Kanski festival je jedan od najvećih filmskih događaja u svetu i samim tim ima odgovornost prema publici širom sveta, naročito ove godine kad prisustvujemo rastućem trendu evropskog fašizma.

We welcome the decision of the Cannes Film Festival to distance itself from the remarks of Danish film director Lars Von Trier, the man who openly sympathizes with fascism and calls himself a Nazi. At the same time, we are puzzled by the Festival’s double standards when it comes to Serbian director Emir Kusturica, a long-time supporter of war criminals from the Balkan wars of the 1990s.

During the 1992-95 seige of Sarajevo, many European intellectuals raised voices against its destruction while Emir Kusturica, a native Sarajevan, was making the movies sponsored by Serbia's President Slobodan Milosevic, the mastermind of the Balkan atrocities.

Even today Emir Kusturica supports Radovan Karadzic, describing him as a “hero” and performing songs that “poetically” celebrate his heroism, although the international war crimes court in The Hague is trying him over genocide in Srebrenica  and the mass killings of non-Serbs in detention camps across Bosnia.

With all respect to the rights of artists to be crazy, lost or bizarre – we ask Mr. Thierry Fremont and Mr. Gilles Jacob to perform the same standards to all supporters of war criminals, including Mr. Kusturica.

The Cannes film festival is one of the greatest film events in the world and therefore it has the responsibility to the audiences across the world, especially this year when we are witnessing a trend of the growing European fascism.
